After-School Program: Individual Responsibility and Academic Success
Does your child need after-school instruction? RTMA’s After-School Program provides pickup of children from their school, a snack and organized break period, and martial arts classes. We also support your child’s education in our after-school program through homework supervision, which is generally completed before students are picked up enabling families to focus on family time in the evenings.
Our students gain additional benefits from group dynamics and problem solving, all presented and supervised by strong and responsible male and female role models. “We are all family” is the central theme of our program with activities for every age and interest group. Students and instructors are available to assist with individual training, as well as academic and personal needs.
Through the RTMA After-school program students develop confidence in school, life, self, and fitness. They move, play and interact with each other under the guidance of attentive adults. They learn self-defense, self-control and respect.
Show Your Report Card Program
Our Show Your Report Card program draws out students with difficulties and gives them the individual help they need for academic success. Assuming responsibility for their achievements works. More than 80 percent of the students who take part in our after-school program make honor roll in their next grading period.
After-School Program Schedule
The after-school schedule consists of rotations through martial arts classes, supervised games and supervised homework time. When students arrive, they have time for a snack and free play. Free play may include, but is not limited to, Dodgeball, card games, jacks, and Legos before settling down to do their martial arts class and homework.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays these are reading days. Children must read for 15 to 20 minutes in order to have free play time.
On Fun Fridays, children may bring labeled toys and electronics. Friday’s rotations include martial arts, arts and crafts, free play and movie time.
